Narrowing My Topic
My topic which if you don't know what it is Steroids in baseball. I believe I need to narrow my topic a bit but not too much or I wont have enough information to write my paper. My topic i believe i need to focus more on the effects of the steroids on the actual players. Instead of doing the broad topic of the history of steroid use in baseball i am going to focus on a couple players and go into depth about why they took the drugs and did they really help the players. Barry Bonds is one of the players that i will focus on and there are a few players mentioned in the Mitchell report that i will decide later on in my research who they will be. Finally i will try to end my essay on the consequences and how steroids are going taken out of the sport.

My Research Project
1.)
- What is an anabolic steroid?
- Why are steroids banned from baseball?
- Who is checking up on the players to make sure they are not using steroids?
- How are steroids dangerous?
- Should a player caught using steroids not be able to play baseball again?
- Could the steroids potentially hurt you and even cause death?
- When were steroids banned?
- Would they ever be legal to use in baseball?
- Where do the steroids come from?
- Why do players take steroids if it could cause them harm?
2.)
Why do the players take steroids if it could cause them harm?
3.)
If steroids potentially cause harm to your body or even death, what causes a major league baseball player to take them?
4.)
How has taking steroids caused a athlete to become a better ball player?
5.)
I found some great research sites. One is http://www.cbc.ca/sports/indepth/drugs/stories/baseball_congress.html. It basically shows that you may be able to play baseball a little better then someone else if you take steroids but the lasting effects are really not worth it.
Steroids Research
My research on steroids in baseball has been a success so far. I was looking at the side effects that steroids can do to your body after taking them. One fact that i did not know bout steroids is that by taking anabolic steroids it could cause liver failure. The most common effect to the liver is called anemia which is when your iron is low. All this information and more is found on the site http://www.sportsci.org/encyc/anabstereff/anabstereff.html. I also found a link off of ESPN, http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/news/mitchell/index.jsp, which gives the whole Mitchell report. I learned while reading some of the Mitchell report that it gives specific details of people who were caught with steroids and how. Alex Cabrera in 2000 was caught in the Arizona Diamondbacks locker room with anabolic steroids, a syringe, and a hundred pills. By the time they could go forward with a trial to ban him from baseball, he was in japan playing in the japan leagues so they did not go forward. This is just some of the great information that I am collecting and there will be a lot more to come.
